The buck knife was apparently discovered by a construction worker years ago, who turned it over to a retired police officer who was working security for a movie set across the street from Simpson's Rockingham home, Officer Andy Neiman told KNX 1070. TMZ first reported the knife's discovery and subsequent testing.

The retired officer held on to the knife for years, only turning it over to the LAPD in January.
