Matt Imhof, a second-round draft pick by the Phillies in 2014, has undergone surgery on his right eye after a freak accident late last week in the Class A Florida State League.
According to ESPN.com, the Clearwater Threshers left-hander was using a stretching rubber band after a game at Brevard County when the equipment malfunctioned and Imhof was struck in the eye. The 22-year-old is expected to need further surgical procedures to repair facial damage.
