A rivalry between the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils likely led to the stabbing death of a 24-year-old Philadelphia man over the weekend, police said Monday.
The incident began around 3 a.m. Saturday when Colin McGovern and three friends made a passing remark to a man wearing a Devils hat, according to police. An argument broke out between the man, 40-year-old Steven Simminger, and McGovern, and eventually escalated to a physical altercation.
