PGA Tour cancels Greenbrier Classic; course damaged by flooding

Rain and flooding that left 23 dead in West Virginia claimed another victim on Saturday: the PGA Tour's Greenbrier Classic.

Scheduled to begin July 7, the tournament is cancelled, Tour officials announced. The Old White TPC course is located on The Greenbrier Resort, a posh setting that must recover from extending damage.

The course, located in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., was hit with 8 to 10 inches of rain.

It's the first time since 2009's edition of what is now the Sandersons Farms Championship at Tour event was canceled because of westher problems.
