Two weeks after teeing off in the British Open, the world's best golfers return to major tournament competition for Thursday's start of the PGA Championship.
This season's schedule was shuffled to include time for golf's return to the Olympics. The normal mid-August date for the PGA Championship conflicted with expectations for the 2016 Rio Games. So the PGA agreed its competition, the fourth of the year's scheduled majors, would move.
The immediate impact? For many golfers who played the British Open at Royal Troon took last week off and start play Thursday at Balustrol Golf Club in New Jersey, just west of New York City, with the rare occurrence of playing back-to-back majors.
