The Wonderlic test’s reliability in terms of predicting the success a draft prospect will have in the NFL is dubious. Nevertheless, the league continues to administer the test, and we continue to be interested in the results. The latter part of that statement is especially true when it comes to quarterbacks, since intelligence is perceived as being more important to that position than any other on the football field.

If there are still personnel people who believe in the Wonderlic, they’ve probably moved former Memphis QB Paxton Lynch down their draft boards. Lynch — widely regarded as the third-best QB prospect in the draft, behind Jared Goff and Carson Wentz — scored an 18, according to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
