Nate Ebner has plenty of work left, but the Patriots safety took another big step Thursday toward his dream of representing the U.S. in the Olympics.

Ebner was a late selection to the U.S. team for this weekend's Hong Kong Sevens tournament, as rosters were announced Thursday. He was not named to the initial 12-man travel roster announced two weeks ago for the World Rugby Sevens series stops in Hong Kong and Singapore the next two weekends. But he made the cut Thursday in place of Carlin Isles, who is considered the fastest player in rugby and is also attempting to make the Rio Games as a sprinter.
