San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk remains the topic of trade speculation and for good reason. The 26-year-old star pass-catcher formally requested a trade last week, and interested teams might have a chance to make a splash at the start of training camp.
The New England Patriots have reportedly been one of those interested teams. According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, New England was one of five teams that tried to acquire Aiyuk before the draft.
"It's unclear what the 49ers wanted at the time," Florio wrote. "They rejected an offer of a second-round pick from the Patriots.
