PARIS — Paris launched its bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics on Tuesday in the presence of French politicians and athletes, and appeared to be hoping that this time would be a charm.
Paris bid for — and lost out on — the Games for 2008, which went to Beijing, and 2012, which were in London.
Undeterred, the city is trying again, and on Tuesday officials said that they had learned from the two most recent failed efforts. This time, Paris will be placing more emphasis on its readiness to accommodate athletes, and it is turning to French athletes to help promote the effort.
