PARIS — Canada’s Summer McIntosh stormed to gold at the 2024 Olympics here on Monday, and announced herself as perhaps the finest female swimmer on the planet.

She confidently outpaced the field in the women’s 400-meter individual medley, and won with a time of 4:27.71, a couple seconds off her own world record of 4:24.38. Americans Katie Grimes (4:33.40) and Emma Weyant (4:34.
