They barely got any sleep. They got up at 6 a.m. and geared up in the car with face painted cheeks and red-white-and-blue top hats.
The Under-13 Albertson Fury girls’ soccer team from Long Island wasn’t going to miss seeing the U.S. women’s national team parade down the Canyon of Heroes Friday morning.
“They’re just like my inspiration,” Ashley Ladner, a center midfielder who wears No. 6, said. “I just want to be them.”
Lisa Javlonowski, 46, one of the soccer moms joining the players Friday morning, said she was excited to have the girls see such great role models as the world champions.
