Panthers cut starting CB Bené Benwikere after Julio Jones debacle, reports say

When matching up with Julio Jones Sunday in Atlanta, Panthers starting cornerback Bené Benwikere allowed Jones to catch eight balls for 228 yards and a touchdown.

Following the 48-33 thumping at the hands of the Falcons, Benwikere isn't going to be allowing any more yards in a Panthers uniform.

Carolina waived Benwikere on Friday, USA Today Sports first reported and other outlets confirmed.

The Panthers are now without their top two corners from last season just four games into 2016, with Josh Norman in Washington and Benwikere on the streets.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 28 of his 37 passes for a Falcons-record 503 yards and four touchdowns, and Jones finished with 12 catches for 300 yards, becoming only the sixth receiver to reach the 300-yard mark in a game.
