Panthers call tails to win Super Bowl 50 coin toss; does it matter?

The Panthers won the coin toss Sunday before Super Bowl 50 after linebacker Thomas Davis called tails.

Winning the coin toss really hasn't meant much in the history of the Super Bowl. Over the previous 49 games, there have been 25 tails and 24 heads. Historically, the winner of the coin toss has gone 25-24.

But the last six years has bucked that trend, with the coin toss winner claiming four Super Bowl titles.
