San Diego (AFP) - Pat Murphy, who has spent parts of the past three seasons managing San Diego's top development club, has been named interim manager of the Padres for the remainder of the season, the Major League Baseball club announced Tuesday.
The move came a day after the Padres fired Bud Black as manager following a 32-33 start under the 2010 National League Manager of the Year.
"Pat Murphy's 30 years of experience coaching and managing and his success at every level stood out to me as I came to this decision," said Padres vice president and general manager A.
