Elana Meyers Taylor of the United States had earned her fourth career Olympic medal this week. On Saturday, she made it No. 5 with a bronze in the two-woman bobsled event.
Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi of Germany took the gold over their countrywomen Mariama Jamanka and Alexandra Burghardt. Meyers Taylor and her brakewoman Sylvia Hoffman grabbed third, just ahead of another German sled.
A second American sled, driven by Kaillie Humphries, placed seventh.
Germany’s win was hardly a surprise: The country won eight of the nine golds awarded in luge, skeleton and bobsled, and 14 of the 27 sliding medals overall.
