Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly done for season with torn ACL, meniscus

Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly has a torn ACL and lateral meniscus in his right knee and will miss the remainder of his senior season, the school announced Sunday.

Kelly exited in the third quarter of Saturday's 37-27 win over Georgia Southern. An MRI conducted Sunday afternoon determined he will need to undergo season-ending surgery this week.

Kelly, the nephew of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, was widely hailed as the top senior quarterback available in this spring's NFL Draft. The 22-year-old opted to forgo a professional career last season after leading the Rebels to a Sugar Bowl victory in an effort to build off his 4,042 yards passing and 31 touchdowns in 2015 and pad his draft stock, but Ole Miss (4-5) has fallen well short of expectations.
