Oakland A’s Fans Protest, but Nevada Moves Closer on Stadium Bill

On Wednesday, a day after fans of the Athletics gathered at Oakland Coliseum in a long-planned reverse boycott of the team’s ownership and its plans to leave the city, the Nevada State Legislature moved a step closer to approving a bill that would provide public funding for a Major League Baseball stadium on the Las Vegas Strip.

The bill, which allows for up to $380 million in funding for a stadium, passed through the state’s Senate, 13-8, on Tuesday and its Assembly, 25-15, on Wednesday, but because of an amendment added by the Assembly, it will need to return to the Senate before it can be sent to Gov.
