NYPD and FDNY throw down in ugly brawl at charity football game

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) and New York Police Department (NYPD) have a fierce rivalry — it's the Bravest vs. Finest.

That translates into the occasional brawls in Manhattan taverns and hockey games. It boiled over during a charity football game in Brooklyn between the country's largest fire and police departments.

The two sides engaged in a bloody brawl after a cop wiped out a firefighter near the NYPD sideline. That did it. As the saying goes, there were wigs on the green at the ironically named "Fun City Bowl" in Coney Island.
