MASON, Ohio — As breathtaking as his flexibility and elasticity are on court, Novak Djokovic has proved just as adept at bending without breaking on the scoreboard.
In a semifinal of the Western & Southern Open on Saturday afternoon, Djokovic, the top seed, was within two points of defeat against the 66th-ranked qualifier Alexandr Dolgopolov but escaped with a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 win to reach the final of the tournament for the fifth time.
He will face the winner of the second semifinal, between second-seeded Roger Federer, the defending champion, and third-seeded Andy Murray.
