Nick Symmonds, the American national champion at 800 meters, said he had been left off the United States team for the world championships in a dispute involving athletes’ individual endorsements and requirements to wear official team gear.
In a Twitter post late Sunday night, Symmonds said he had not been included on the roster for the championships that begin Aug. 22 in Beijing. USA Track and Field declined to comment, saying the team would be announced later Monday.
He has refused to sign a document that requires American athletes to wear gear made by Nike at official team functions.
