Rob Scuderi returned to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks for Christian Ehrhoff.
The two franchises, which between them have won the last four Stanley Cup titles, made the swap to create more opportunities for two well-liked defensemen who did not fit into their previous teams’ plans. Both veteran players spent time in the American Hockey League this month after clearing waivers.
Scuderi, 37, played four seasons in Los Angeles from 2009 to 2013, collecting four goals and 43 assists in the regular season and playing in 50 postseason games.
