Sendlein had been with Arizona for all eight of his N.F.L. seasons, the last seven as a starter, before he was released in a salary-cap move in March. At the time, he reportedly turned down a one-year, $1.5 million offer to remain with the Cardinals. He became a free agent but, after failing to find another team, signed a one-year deal with Arizona. The terms were not revealed.
Coach Bruce Arians said Sendlein would not return automatically as a starter but would compete with A. Q. Shipley and Ted Larsen. Sendlein started all 32 games and the team’s one playoff contest since Arians arrived at Arizona.
