NFL passes overtime rule change

According to NFL reporter Diana Russini, the NFL owners have passed a rule change regarding overtime. The change would allow both teams to possess the football in overtime. This is a slight change over the current rule that only allowed both teams to possess the football if the team to possess it first failed to score or only scored a field goal.

The previous rule said that if the team that possessed the first scored a touchdown, the game was over. Presumably, this change will allow the other team to have an opportunity to possess the football and go down to potentially tie or win on the following drive.
