The NCAA will not sanction Baylor the way it did Penn State as a result of the domestic and sexual assault scandal that has engulfed the Texas school's athletic department, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
The NCAA could’ve exerted its executive authority to impose sweeping punishments but instead will follow its "normal investigative process," according to The Journal, which cited unidentified people familiar with the matter.

Baylor still faces a more narrowly focused NCAA investigation, even as coaches, players, victims and alleged victims remain in the public eye in the aftermath of a wide-ranging scandal that led to the firing of football coach Art Briles and the resignation of high-ranking Baylor officials.
