Duke fans, you can relax now.
Those hoping for an early upset will need to wait a bit longer after No. 4-seed Duke rallied in the second half to eliminate North Carolina-Wilmington, a plucky No. 13 seed that had the defending champion Blue Devils on edge early Thursday afternoon.
Trailing at halftime, Duke regrouped, mounted a 14-0 run early in the second half and held on to win, 93-85, in Providence, R.I.
Before that, it looked as if the N.C.A.A. men’s basketball tournament would get a major upset before most lunch breaks were over.
