The NBC Sports Group is expected to announce Wednesday at the Belmont Stakes draw in Manhattan that it will carry the third leg of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown through at least 2020.
No financial details were available.
NBC has been seeking to secure the long-term rights to all three Triple Crown races. More than a year ago, NBC signed a 10-year deal to carry the Kentucky Derby through 2025.
Jon Miller, the president of programming for NBC Sports and NBCSN, said that the media company was not frustrated by the pace of talks with the New York Racing Association.
