Martin Truex Jr.’s team says its car failed postrace inspection at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday because Kevin Harvick hit Truex’s car early in the opening race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
The No. 78 team expected NASCAR to announce a P2 penalty Wednesday for the car failing a Laser Inspection Station (LIS) test, but the governing body decided against point deductions for Truex and Jimmie Johnson's team, which also failed an inspection to the No. 48 car.
