Zack Greinke’s resurgence continued last night with a dominant performance against the White Sox. Greinke fanned 12 in 8 2/3 innings of work in Arizona’s 5-1 win. His dominance was matched with efficiency as 73 of 103 pitches landed for strikes in his third double-digit strikeout game of the season. The trouble Greinke had shutting the door on hitters earlier in the season has evaporated -- opposing hitters are now hitting .145 in 0-2 counts and .155 in 1-2 counts.
Giants closer Mark Melancon earned his third save since returning from the DL on May 18.
