The Texas Rangers brushed off the disappointment of losing the AL West race with a strong opener to the MLB postseason Tuesday.
Jordan Montgomery pitched seven shutout innings to lead the Rangers in a 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays to take a 1-0 lead in their wild-card series. The Texas offense got plenty of help via four Tampa Bay errors as Corey Seager and Josh Jung knocked in an RBI each. The Rangers are now a win away from advancing to an ALDS matchup against the top-seeded Baltimore Orioles, while the Rays will face an elimination game at home on Wednesday.
