The Giants trailed when ace Madison Bumgarner exited after 101 pitches in five innings as the southpaw served up a three-run homer to Cubs counterpart Jake Arrieta. The Giants answered in the eighth inning and again in the 13th to summon their even-year magic and live to play another day.
