In sports, it’s easy to remember the biggest title-winning dynasties. In the NBA, there was the ’60s Celtics, ’80s Lakers, ’90s Bulls and ’00s Lakers; the NFL has had the ’70s Steelers, ’80s 49ers, ’90s Cowboys, and ’00s Patriots; In MLB, it was the Yankees in the ’30s, ’40s, ’50s, and ’90s; the NHL has the ’50s Canadiens, ’80s Islanders, and ’80s Oilers.
Then there is the modern-day dynasty — teams that couldn’t complete a three-peat, or won multiple titles over an extended period but never back-to-back. In this group are teams such as the ’80s Celtics, ’80s Pistons, ’00s Spurs, ’10s San Francisco Giants, ’90–00s Red Wings, ’90s Avalanche, ’10s Heat, and ’10s Blackhawks, to name a few.
