Minnesota's Kill retires

Minnesota announced Wednesday morning coach Jerry Kill is retiring, effective immediately, because of "medical concerns."

At an emotional press conference Wednesday, Kill said he was retiring on the advice of his doctors. Kill was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2005, has suffered seizures on the sideline during games, and as recently as 2013 was forced to take a seven-game leave of absence to focus on his health. He confirmed Wednesday that he has suffered two recent seizures.

But Kill also enjoyed great success with the previously moribund Gophers, taking them to three consecutive bowl games and earning the Big Ten's 2014 Coach of the Year honors.
