Minnesota players rejoin team after prosecutors decline to file charges

Four players were reinstated to Minnesota's football team after police decided not to charge them in a possible sexual assault case, the Star Tribune reported.

According to Minnesota coach Tracy Claeys, the players will be allowed to practice beginning Tuesday, but he did not directly address whether they would play against Iowa on Saturday.

Cornerbacks KiAnte Hardin and Ray Buford, safety Dior Johnson and defensive lineman Tamarion Johnson were "mentioned" in connection with a sexual assault investigation last month. Minneapolis police launched an investigation, but ultimately decided not to charge the four men.

“There is insufficient admissible evidence for prosecutors to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that either force was used, or that the victim was physically helpless as defined by law in a sexual encounter,” the county attorney’s office said Monday, via the Pioneer Press.
