The Milwaukee Wave forced overtime with the two-time defending champion Chihuahua Savage but missed a chance to advance to the MASL finals with a 7-6 loss Sunday in Oceanside, California.
Pedro Castaneda scored the golden goal when he took a pass from Jose Gilberto Lopez near midfield, streaked down the left side and then buried a left-footer past diving Wave goalkeeper William Banahene.
Midseason acquisition Franck Tayou had tied the score for the Wave with a header off a restart with 3:29 left in regulation, moments after the Savage had gone ahead.
