EAST LANSING, Mich. — After its come-from-behind win over Baylor in the Cotton Bowl in January, Michigan State’s football team, as tradition dictates, was presented with commemorative rings. The walnut-size mementos celebrated the 42-41 victory as well as the team’s 11-2 record. But one small section of each ring’s limited real estate displayed something else: the score of a blowout over a team that wound up 5-7.
In tiny raised letters, it read, “MSU 35 UM 11.”
No matter what the Spartans do, it seems, there is no escaping what they do against Michigan.
