General Manager Sandy Alderson of the Mets will miss the annual general manager meetings to undergo an unspecified medical procedure, a week after fainting after a news conference at Citi Field.
John Ricco, the assistant general manager, made the announcement Monday at the start of the four-day session.
“He had a medical procedure that was scheduled after the season ended and because of the playoff run it got pushed back, kept getting pushed and pushed, and obviously for good reason,” Ricco said. “And so he’s going to have it done this week.”
Alderson collapsed Wednesday, and the Mets said he had skipped breakfast and felt lightheaded under the lights of the news conference.
