Memphis has declared James Wiseman ineligible for competition and will withhold the star freshman from games.
The school announced the news Thursday, after Wiseman withdrew his lawsuit against the NCAA.
Memphis will immediately apply for Wiseman's reinstatement and said Wiseman can practice with the team.
"It has become clear to Mr. Wiseman that the lawsuit he filed last week has become an impediment to the University of Memphis in its efforts to reach a fair and equitable resolution with the NCAA concerning his eligibility status," the statement from Wiseman's attorneys said.
