Memphis basketball star PJ Haggerty became a consensus All-American Wednesday.
The sophomore guard earned second-team honors from the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and a third-team nod from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) to complete the clean sweep of what the NCAA recognizes for consensus status. Haggerty had already landed second-team spots on The Associated Press and The Sporting News lists.
The Tigers (29-5) are set to face Colorado State (25-9) in the first round of the NCAA tournament Friday (1 p.m., TBS) in Seattle.
Haggerty becomes the first consensus All-American since 2008, when Chris Douglas-Roberts was earned first-team honors across the board.
