Iowa and Stanford were supposed to play a close, physical game in the Rose Bowl. Stanford had a very different idea about the outcome of the game and hammered the Hawkeyes in Pasadena.
Stanford jumped on top of Iowa with a touchdown on the first play of scrimmage -- a 75-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Hogan to Christian McCaffrey -- and kept the pedal down for the entire first half.
The Cardinal led 35-0 at the half and had a touchdown in all three phases of the game. Iowa was able to put up 16 second-half points to make the outcome less embarrassing, but the outcome of the game was never in doubt.
