The Pittsburgh Steelers mercifully relieved offensive coordinator Matt Canada of his duties on Tuesday morning. The move was overdue given how abysmally the team's offense had been performing. Pittsburgh ranked No. 31 in yardage and No. 28 in points scored over the first 11 weeks of the 2023 NFL season, and along with once-promising quarterback prospect Kenny Pickett's development stalling out.
Credit head coach Mike Tomlin and Pittsburgh's front office for making the decision in time to potentially salvage what has been an up-and-down campaign. Despite being outgained by opposing offenses in all 10 of their games thus far—making NFL history in the process—the Steelers are still well within the playoff hunt at 6-4 and could find a spark with the tandem of Mike Sullivan and Eddie Faulkner calling the shots.
