Masters Champions' Dinner heavy on Japanese fare in honor of Hideki Matsuyama

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Hideki Matsuyama will bring a Japanese flavor to the annual Masters Champions' Dinner on Tuesday night.

The gathering, comprised only of winners of the green jacket, takes place at the Augusta National Clubhouse on the Tuesday of every Masters. The previous year's winner has the honor of selecting the menu. Here's Matsuyama's fare:

  • Assorted sushi, sashimi and nigiri; yakitori chicken skewers

  • Miso glazed black cod with dashi broth

  • Miyazaki wagyu: A5 wagyu beef ribeye with mixed mushrooms and vegetables

  • Japanese strawberry shortcake with whipped cream and Amaou strawberries

That's a strong lineup right there, with enough nods to Western tastes that only a few of the old-line champions will ask for their usual steak and potatoes.
