Martin Truex Jr. exited the first round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup as the title favorite. The second round, though, has not been kind to the Furniture Row Racing driver.
Truex’s engine apparently failed on Lap 41 of Sunday’s Hellmann’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Truex headed to pit road, smoke billowing from his car.

It was a catastrophic engine failure, Truex said in a radio interview. Specifically, he said there was a "big hole in the oil pan.
