With the arrival of manager Don Mattingly to the Miami Marlins, the club's unusual employment history with Dan Jennings has come to an end. The team announced Thursday that Jennings, who ended the 2015 season as the Marlins field manager after starting it as the general manager, had been fired. The Miami Herald first reported his dismissal, and CBS MLB Insider Jon Heyman confirmed the news:
Dan jennings, gm then manager of marlins, has been dismissed. Had rift with loria while defending the players as manager.

Heyman also reports that Michael Hill, the team's president of baseball operations, will assume Jennings's GM duties.
