The Mavericks owner announced Wednesday he plans to donate $1 million to the department to help with counterterrorism efforts following the Orlando nightclub shooting.

"I'm proud to be able to help the City of Dallas," Cuban said in a statement.
The funds will be earmarked for approximately 16,000 hours of Dallas police overtime, including an increased police presence in Oak Lawn, a Dallas suburb with a sizeable LGBT community. Cuban's announcement comes three days after Omar Mateen opened fire inside Orlando's Pulse nightclub, a popular spot with the city's LGBT community.
