Mark Cuban denies report that Mavericks were holding Kyrie Irving trade talks with Nets

The Dallas Mavericks, at least for now, aren’t making a play on Kyrie Irving.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Tuesday, despite reports otherwise, Dallas has not had any trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets about Irving, according to longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein.

SNY’s Ian Begley reported earlier Tuesday the Mavericks had reached out to the Nets about Irving for a possible trade, and Kristaps Porzingis “was brought up.” According to Cuban, however, Begley’s report doesn’t carry any weight.

So even though the Mavericks would certainly be an interesting fit for Irving, and he’d legally be allowed to play there, it doesn’t sound like that will be happening anytime soon.
