Former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore took a big step in his post-playing career this week, being named the new coach at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia. A Duncan, South Carolina native, Lattimore has been intimately involved with football and the South Carolina community since retiring from the NFL because of the lingering impact from two gruesome knee injuries.

In April, the NCAA ruled that Lattimore was not permitted to be a paid member of Will Muschamp's Gamecocks non-coaching staff because he would provide the program with what the NCAA considers an unfair recruiting advantage.
