Arguably the strangest college football story of the past few years -- even if tangentially related -- is nearing a close.
Orlando Ricardo Thompson has been convicted of second-degree murder after fatally stabbing former Florida State mascot Caleb Joshua Halley in 2015 over an argument involving spices in a gumbo recipe. Thompson now potentially faces life in prison, and his sentencing for second-degree murder will take place on May 4, according to the New York Post.
The argument that resulted in Halley's death took place at Buddy's Seafood Market in Panama City Beach, Florida, and involved a decorative sword.
