Madison Keys did her job in 76 minutes on Monday, getting off the baking tennis court in Arthur Ashe Stadium and into some air-conditioning before some fans could even get to their seats for her match at the United States Open.
It has been that kind of tournament for Keys, who beat Dominika Cibulkova, 6-1, 6-3, in their fourth-round match in the early afternoon. She has efficiently burned through the women’s singles draw here without drawing the kind of attention that many other top players have, despite being a finalist at last year’s U.S. Open.
“This one just seems like it’s a little bit more low key,” she said.
