Lynx center Fowles named Western Conference Player of the Week

Sylvia Fowles of the Minnesota Lynx has been named the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The center was a large contributor in Minnesota’s opening three games, averaging 21.7 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Fowles has led the Lynx in scoring in two of the first three games.

After one week of WNBA play, she stands as the only player to rank in the top 10 in four different categories: scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks.

The accolade is nothing new for the center, who earned the award five times during her six-year run with the Chicago Sky.
