Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand led a fiery press conference Tuesday, defending his office's actions regarding the death of former NFL running back Joe McKnight, who was killed in a shooting last Thursday.
“I am very much disappointed in the conduct of some of the citizens of not only this parish, but this country. At some point in time we’re going to have to come to grips with the dialogue and the rhetoric in this country," Normand said.
Normand was upset over the public outcry that resulted after police released Ronald Gasser without charging him less than 24 hours after he was suspected of gunning down McKnight.
